Raed’s broer vrij
Raed’s broer, Khalid, die half juli was ontvoerd door de Iraakse geheime dienst, is weer thuis. Omdat hij de website van zijn broer had bezocht werd hij aangezien voor terrorist. Hoewel hij bij zijn vrijlating absolute geheimhouding heeft moeten zweren staat zijn interessante verhaal op zijn website. Er is verder weinig over te zeggen, behalve dat je in Irak niet verdacht wil worden van terrorisme, en dat Khalid een optimistische man is;
I was so lucky that I was taken to the Mokhabarat directly. Usually you have to go through a police station or a center of the national guards to get there, where the standard procedure of torturing is hanging people upside down and beating them with cables for hours, pinching their bodies with electrical drills, burning them with hot water, ripping out their finger nails, breaking bones, using acids on the wounds after whipping them, the dead bodies that are found in the dumpsters in Baghdad even had their eyes taken out of them, and a lot of these things happened with people that I know, or with people that were detained with the people that were with me in this jail, before they were brought here, and the list of torturing techniques is long, and you don’t want to hear them or know about them if you want to sleep at night. De Telegraaf maakt het nieuws grotendeels zelf bijvoorbeeld door een artikeltje te plaatsen “Nederland is een multiculturele tijdbom ! Reageer !” om de volgende dag te openen met “90 procent van de Nederlanders vindt dat Nederland een multiculturele tijdbom is, lees de reacties”. Tevens worden dan de uitslagen gepresenteerd van de enquete op hun site met de vraag “vind u dat Nederland een multiculturele tijdbom is?” met de mogelijke antwoorden;
