Hier weer een bijdrage die we overnemen van Osocio. Deze site volgt wereldwijd “social adverting and non-profit campaignes”.
This low-budget, anti-war video by Quebec’s Marche mondiale des femmes, in protest of Canada’s armed presence in Afghanistan, is so controversial it has already been pulled down and re-edited in less than a week.
The author of Cassandria’s Blog (where I first saw the spot) has generously offered this exclusive translation, which I have edited into smoother English copy:
“Make love, not war”
Come on, this is not what you have to say!
What you have to say is “Make love FOR war” !
Because many children are needed to supply an army.
I had 3 children. My oldest died in Afghanistan.
My youngest returned, but no longer has all his faculties.
And then, there is my daughter… she’s just been recruited at school!
We’ve pulled the rubber band far enough!
We have too push our luck.
We demand that the military recruitment stops in schools
and that Canada immediately removes its troops from Afghanistan!
From 12th till 17th of October, Walk with us!
It’s as direct and radical a pacifist plea as anything heard in the 1960s. But this didn’t stop the client from editing out the line “If I’ve known that by giving the life, I’d just be supplying cannon fodder, I might never have had any children.”
