Al enkele dagen geleden is er een zogenaamde ‘geheime toespraak’ van Vladislav Surkov gelekt in de Russische media. Vladislav is strategisch adviseur van president Poetin en wordt gezien als de op-één-na machtigste man van Rusland. Voor een gezelschap van Russische zakenlieden hield hij een speech over hoe hij de toekomst van Rusland ziet. De speech zelf vind ik nogal zwalken (of ze is gewoon slecht vertaald) maar er zijn wel wat opmerkelijke uitspraken uit te distilleren die duiden op een paranoïde anti-westerse instelling, of misschien is het gewoon een machistisch power-praatje voor wat Russen onder elkaar?

There is something heroic and beautiful in it. And to lose in a competitive struggle means to be a loser. And this is doubly insulting, I think.
