Een goed doel is er eentje waar Wamberto niet bij de lat kan. Een beter doel is een instelling waar je iets aan overmaakt of je anderszins voor inzet en daardoor een goed gevoel opdoet. Het beste doel is een instelling als hiervoor genoemd die tevens daadwerkelijk een zo groot mogelijk deel van jouw bijdrage gebruikt voor haar doelstelling. Zeker rondom de donkere decemberdagen kan men met succes een beroep ons goede doel-gevoel doen. Een hoogtepunt werd wereldwijd gevoeld met de riesenhit ‘Do they know it’s christmas time’ van Band Aid (“tonight thank God it’s them instead of you”). Ook herinnert iedereen zich nog wel de filmscene in ‘Coming to America’ als Eddy Murphy een lunchzak vol dollars geeft aan twee zwervers en daarmee de blits maakte bij zijn date die niet weet dat hij eigenlijk een Afrikaanse prins is. Nee? En ook niet die scene waarin drie familieleden van Murphy’s concurrent in de liefde (een gladde krullenbol die furore maakt met de haarversteviger ‘Soul Glow’) opstaan van de bank en op hoofdhoogte drie vettige plekken achterlaten?
Maar goed, welk doel te kiezen. Er zijn er te veel om op te noemen en deze lijken zo onderhand verwikkeld in een ratrace om de aandacht. Als er ergens een ramp plaatsvindt dan scheuren daar vele hulporganisaties heen. De organisaties moeten aldaar naast aan de slachtoffers eveneens aan hun eigen profilering denken, waardoor de samenwerking nog wel eens te wensen overlaat (bijv. in Kosovo + nog een voorbeeld in deze scriptie maatschappijleer: “De samenwerking tussen hulporganisaties was ook ‘bagger'”). Andere wijzen waarop een instelling zich in de kijker kan spelen is door een beroemdheid aan zich te verbinden of voordelen te verstrekken aan donateurs. Tegen dit laatste kan je allerlei bezwaren aanvoeren als zou het afdoen aan de nobelheid, maar dat vind ik een beetje overdreven. Het lijkt mij bijvoorbeeld logisch, zeker met een steeds meer terugtrekkende overheid, dat gulle gevers hun naam kunnen verbinden aan een door hen ondersteund doel. Op kleinere schaal vind ik het niet bezwaarlijk dat je met een bijdrage aan een goed doel meteen aan een loterij meedoet. En al helemaal onzinnig is het om de altruïsmepuritein uit te gaan hangen wanneer men bijvoorbeeld een shirtje verstrekt waarmee je reclame kan maken en/of kan laten zien waar jij voor staat, charitastechnisch.
Maar mark, vraagt men mij dan, ik wil zo graag zien wat er met mijn donatie gebeurt? Hoe weet ik dat het goed terecht komt? Daarop kan ik het doel Koelman Bed(o)elt (het) Goed aanraden. De columnist wil de uitspraak aanvechten waarmee hij voor de rechter van Gretta Duisenberg verloor en u kunt hem helpen. Koelman stelt dat er kwalijke jurisprudentie is gevormd die ook tegen collega-columnisten, cartoonisten en cabaretiers kan worden gebruikt. Dat valt denk ik nog wel mee omdat de meeste conflicten over belediging hun eigen specifieke belangenafweging zullen kennen. Met deze uitspraak wordt het hooguit wat lastiger om seksuele activiteiten van vrouwen van presidenten van Europese banken te vergelijken met een Israëlische vergeldingsaanval. Maar waarom ik dit doel wel goed vind, is omdat de motivering van het vonnis zeer gebrekkig is en zeker geen recht doet aan de terughoudendheid die een rechter in acht moet nemen bij een inbreuk op de vrijheid van meningsuiting. Daarom maak ik een x-bedrag over op giro 3204141 tnv LJA Koelman te Tilburg ovv. ‘Grettagate’ (ik denk iets van 10 Euro, dan krijg ik er ook nog een boekje bij). Doet u mee (of weet u een beter doel)?
Goed neveneffect: als ik Koelman steun word ik gedwongen ook aan Amnesty te doneren. Ik kan immers niet rechtvaardigen te ageren tegen deze Nederlandse luxe-beknotting van de uitingsvrijheid terwijl elders op deze aardkloot martelingen en andere mensenrechtenschendingen schering en inslag zijn.

Maar nu even serieus, de column van Koelman was niet zo bijzonder. Beledigend wellicht maar zeker niet bedreigend. Het hijgerige idolate gedrag van Gretta jegens Arafat wordt er wel op een geestige wijze in verwoord. Jammer is wel dat de dramatische toestand in Israel en de Palestijnse Gebieden er geen moer mee opschiet. Maar dat schoot het ook al niet met Gretta alleen op. Ook het feit dat allerlei vage moslimhaters nu hard achter Koelman aanlopen is minder fraai. Sowieso schijnt het onder webloggers nu een must te zijn Koelman te steunen met een mirror of hard te roepen dat je geld geeft.
Bovenstaande troeblerende factoren doen mij aarzelen, maar opzich is de gerechtelijke uitspraak bagger (om in het vocabulair van die hierboven genoemde scholier te blijven). En wel daarom geef ik ook, genoeg om mezelf te verwennen met een boek van Koelman, me sociaal veilig te stellen in de weblogwereld, een armlastige Don Quichote te helpen in zijn strijd voor vrijheid van meningsuiting, een tegenstem uit te brengen tegen een antisemitische vrouw uit Zuid en een tegenstem tegen de domheid, blinde haat en het kapitaal in het algemeen.
pathetisch initiatief, interesseert me echt geen hond wat koelman wel of niet mag schrijven. Weet je hoeveel kindertjes niet de columnschrijversleeftijd halen in de wereld, of geen geld hebben om naar de lerencolumnschrijven-school te gaan? duur betaald goed doel, dus, terwijl Koelman van de hele ophef als schrijver alleen maar naamsbekendheid, cq. marktwaarde overhoudt, dat weet ie zelf verdomd goed, en hij spant daar elke gek voor achter zijn wagentje.
Dat lees ik nu pas: dan krijg ik er ook nog boekje bij!? Je bedoelt hij verkoopt je een boekje, en daar krijg je gratis een reclamespot bij de Nederlandse rechtbank bij…

Dat boek is er eentje uit de gigantische voorraad van zijn eigen boek dat huize Koelman uitpuilt. Daar waren distributieproblemen mee geloof ik. Dus zo komt hij een beetje van de voorraad af. ;-)
