Woensdag en donderdag is het Birmese leger twee kloosters binnengevallen. Op Birmese blogs verschijnen de eerste foto’s: wat rest is ravage, bloedspatten en in de paniek achtergelaten gewaden. Waarschijnlijk zijn er tenminste achthonderd monniken opgepakt. Op het Birmese blog MMEDwatch verschijnt een ooggetuigeverslag: they are treating the sangha like terrorist – they took cash and food away from the monastry not just the monks – that’s robbery! – armed robbery! – we belive the soldiers were given ampetemine tablets – i am sure no soldier will dare do like this – the most hit monastry is Ngwe Kyar Yan – other monatries were also sieged – they are trying to instill fear so that the protest will stop – and dragged the monks out and beat them up – they are showing thier strenght – and for the sangha we should not stop – coz if we do it will all be in vain – but i am sad – as most ppl think the UN will come – they won’t – UN has no teeth – China=UN – they can’t do anything without China’s consent – Very sad indeed (MMEDwatch). De monniken zouden op hun beurt vandaag een functionaris van de militaire junta hebben gegijzeld (nu.nl).
