Behind closed doors could lie the answer to safe renewable energy of the future. At the National Ignition Facility in Livermore, USA, scientists are aiming to build the world's first sustainable fusion reactor by 'creating a miniature star on Earth'. The $3.5 billion project has inched a little closer to its goal of igniting a workable fusion reaction by 2012. On November 2 they fired up the 192 lasers beams at the centre of the reactor and aimed them at a glass target containing tritium and deuterium gas. The resulting release of energy was of a magnitude of 1.3 million mega joules, which was a world record and the peak radiation temperature measure at the core was approximately six million degrees Fahrenheit. The Ellora Caves are an impressive complex of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain cave temples near the ancient Indian village of Ellora. The caves have a slightly less dramatic setting than those at Ajanta, but more exquisite sculptures. Ellora is a World Heritage Site and the most visited ancient monument in Maharashtra State.
The 34 Ellora caves – actually structures excavated out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills – were built between the 6th and the 10th century. The 12 Buddhist, 17 Hindu, and 5 Jain caves, built in proximity, demonstrate the religious harmony prevalent during this period of Indian history.

Save the Words features arcane words that are well on their way out of use. Many are no longer found in dictionaries. Site visitors can ‘adopt’ these words and pledge to revive them by using them as frequently as possible in conversation and in correspondence. Words like avunculize which means to act as an uncle. Or foppotee which is a simple-minded person.
Save the Words is a project of an advertising agency. Young and Rubicam in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, was hired to promote the print version of the Oxford English Dictionary.

Fotograaf Jasper Groen heeft jouw hulp nodig bij het maken van ¡eXisto! (“Ik besta!”). Voor dit project fotografeerde hij gedurende meerdere jaren Colombiaanse trans mannen en non-binaire personen. Deze twee groepen zijn veel minder zichtbaar dan trans vrouwen. Met dit boek wil hij hun bestaan onderstrepen.
De ruim dertig jongeren in ¡eXisto! kijken afwisselend trots, onzeker of strak in de camera. Het zijn indringende portretten die ook ontroeren. Naast de foto’s komen bovendien persoonlijke en vaak emotionele verhalen te staan, die door de jongeren zelf geschreven zijn. Zo wordt dit geen boek óver, maar mét en voor een belangrijk deel dóór trans personen.
