Hoewel het aantal van bijna achthonderd babylijkjes niet ter discussie staat, is het zeer twijfelachtig dat deze in een septische tank zijn gedumpt.
Waarschijnlijker is dat er sprake is geweest van één of meerdere graftombes in de vorm van een schacht.
Niettemin werd er zeker niet in alle gevallen keurig begraven:

ik zag die tekst/link al eerder langskomen in een reactie, maar ook toen dacht ik dat het niet veel uitmaakt. Het blijft het dumpen van lijken. Het is niet de sceptictank die dit nieuws zo walgelijk maakte.

Er wordt veel geroepen. Teveel. De Deputy Leader of Sinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald zegt terecht: There is no getting away from these issues, the light needs to be shone.
Er komt gewoon een groot openbaar onderzoek naar al dit soort tehuizen. Ierland gaat ondersteboven en op de schop. En de kerk gaat er uit.
En verder wat #1 en #2 zeggen: of het echt een beerput was doet er niet toe. Het IS een beerput.
Volgens mij zeg je in het Nederlands ofwel “septic tank” ofwel “septische put”. “Septische tank” is ietwat ongebruikelijk. Ja of “beerput” natuurlijk.
Ohoh, de overheid heeft al op 25 mei dozen betreffende Tuam uit het nationale archief gehaald. En: Dozens more files connected to unmarried mothers including health inspection reports on unmarried mothers’ homes were recalled by the Department in May 1992 and February 2006.
Wat moet ik hier nu van denken?
Lijkt dit alsof de overheid dingen probeert te verstoppen? Of zagen ze al jaren aan de poot van de kerkstoel?
Dat gaat interessant worden.
Het blijft een boeiend gebeuren daar in Ierland nu de analyses loskomen. Hier een interessante:
