Documents obtained by the network, and verified by security and legal experts, point to the involvement of Iran’s secret service, Hezbollah and the armed group The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) – General Command.
The investigation found that the PFLP was responding to requests from Iran to avenge the shooting down of Iran Air Flight 655 by the USS Vincennes in July 1988, which killed 290 people.
Voormalig CIA agent Robert Baer:
“The CIA and the FBI investigations diverged completely… because the case was, being run by the Department of Justice, in complete disregard to the intelligence. As far as I can tell is someone said, look, Libya’s vulnerable to prosecution, small country, Gaddafi’s hated, let’s go for it.
“It was an executive decision, and then once that happened everybody lined up. So the people in the intelligence community could just go bugger off you know.”

Klinkt logisch allemaal dus waarom niet? De VS zal op dat moment niet op nog een confrontatie met Iran hebben zitten wachten.
Ik zou zeggen zoek het verder uit…
Maar is het ondertussen niet iets voor historici?
PFLP GC is niet gelijk aan PFLP. PFLP is een marxistische Palestijnse groepering. PFLP GC is theoretisch een afsplitsing daarvan, maar in de praktijk altijd onder controle geweest van een van de Syrische inlichtingendiensten. Ahmad Jibril, de leider was een (voormalig) officier in een Syrische inlischingendienst. Het is vanaf het begin bekend dat de PFLP-GC waarschijnlijk achter de aanslag zat en dus dat de Syriërs waarschijnlijk verantwoordelijk waren, maar het kwam beter uit als het Qadhafi’s schuld was. Nu komt het dus blijkbaar weer beter uit als we Iran de schuld kunnen geven, waarschijnlijk om de kans op een ontspanning tussen dat land het het Westen onderuit te halen.
