Gisteravond spraken Joris Luyendijk en Bram Moszkowicz in VPRO’s Zomergasten naar aanleiding van fragmenten van de Palestijnse terreurdaad tijdens de Olympische Spelen in München en een interview met Simon Wiesenthal o.a. over recht en logica. Hoe deze begrippen elkaar kunnen uitsluiten/tegenspreken. Moszkowicz woog al zijn woorden minutieus en de Zomergasten formule waarbij interviewer en gast meer dan drie uur tot elkaar veroordeeld zijn stond echt vuurwerk in de weg. (of toch niet? lees ook de geblogde nabespreking van Joris zelf)
Vandaag struikelde uw blogger over onderstaande foto en de link was snel gemaakt. Was het rechtmatig dat generaal Patton vijfduizend burgers uit Weimar langs de lijken en verbrandingsovens in concentratiekamp liet lopen? Een eigengereide actie van de militair Patton om burgers te straffen of gewoon een logisch opvoedkundig standje na alle ellende die de nazi’s hadden aangericht. Het woord Amerikaanse propaganda viel toen ook al.

I stood on the parapet of Bismarck’s granite tower and watched General Patton in his command car lead 5,000 Weimar citizens up the hill into the camp. They were led through the camp and shown the atrocities committed by the SS. It so happened I had two Jewish boys on the radio team who spoke fluent Yiddish and sent them into the camp to mingle among the Germans and listen to the comments. Several hours later they came back and reported the Germans saying it was all Allied propaganda and that Germans never did such things and so forth. Complete denial of knowledge of the camp and what went on there. Some of these people worked in the war factories with the prisoners and certainly knew of the facts. (bron)
