How Common Is Your Password?

A series of hacks to popular sites like LinkedIn, Yahoo!, eHarmony and Last.fm has revealed the startlingly easy passwords we all use. How often have you created a password with words like 'password' or '123456'? The numbers say you're not the only one. Of the 442,773 total passwords hacked from Yahoo!, close to a quarter were used by more than one person. Although this shows that the majority of us aren't very original when we create passwords, there are clear patterns we can avoid to make our passwords a little more secure. Don't end your password with a year, don't use common base words, substitute numbers or characters for letters when you can, and try to make it something unique to you. Londense bus doet push-ups

David Cerny, a Czech artist has re-modelled a traditional London double-decker bus into a mechanical sculpture of an athlete doing push-ups to celebrate the Olympic Games opening in the British capital on Friday. The bus is installed outside the Czech Olympic House in London’s Islington neighbourhood.

Cerny bought the 1957 bus from an owner in the Netherlands, attached two huge arms, an electrical engine and a lot of wiring and suspension tools to make it into a piece of art named ‘London Boosted.’

Welkom in Ferropolis

Ferropolis, ’the city of iron’ is a museum – opened in 1995 – of old huge industrial machines in Gräfenhainichen, a city near Dessau, Germany. It’s an open air museum which contains machines from the mid-twentieth century.

They can measure to 30 meters high, 120 meters long and weigh up to 1980 tons. As skeletons of huge extinct dinosaurs, these derelict machines seem finally resting in a graveyard of obsolete technology.

Lekker rustig poepen

When you gotta go, you gotta go. And answering nature’s call is certainly what the builders of these remote outhouses seem to have had in mind. Often situated in incredibly scenic locations, some of these outhouses also seem highly precarious, looking like they’re about to topple over a cliff at any minute.

Was this positioning chosen in the name of ventilation? Who knows.

In Het wereldrijk van het Tweestromenland beschrijft Daan Nijssen, die op Sargasso de reeks ‘Verloren Oudheid‘ verzorgde, de geschiedenis van Mesopotamië. Rond 670 v.Chr. hadden de Assyriërs een groot deel van wat we nu het Midden-Oosten noemen verenigd in een wereldrijk, met Mesopotamië als kernland. In 612 v.Chr. brachten de Babyloniërs en de Meden deze grootmacht ten val en kwam onder illustere koningen als Nebukadnessar en Nabonidus het Babylonische Rijk tot bloei.
