I don’t have many strong dislikes. I admit that as a teacher – I have no racial prejudices in general – but there were certain types, and conspicuous among them the Near Eastern populations, which I still dislike because they are fundamentally dishonest. And I must say dishonesty is a thing I intensely dislike. It was a type which, in my childhood in Austria, was described as Levantine, typical of the people of the eastern Mediterranean. But I encountered it later, and I have a profound dislike for the typical Indian students at the London School of Economics, which I admit are all one type – Bengali moneylender sons. They are to me a detestable type, I admit, but not with any racial feeling. I have found a little of the same amongst the Egyptians – basically a lack of honesty in them.

Wel eerlijk dat hij dat zo zei en dat ze dat ook zo hebben gepubliceerd.
Typische onpartijdige, niet racistische liberale uitspraak zou ik zeggen. Echt katholiek, keizerlijk klassiek Oostenrijks. Dit is wat je krijgt met nieuw rechts in Europa: alles is fout behalve ik (wij) zelf.

of 2034, 2084, or, hope of hopes, 2984 (Inleiding, pag xiii). De implementatie van zijn [economische] ideeën heeft – zo’n 70 jaar na dato – toch op zijn minst wat ongewenste effecten.
Laten we hopen dat de correctie wat sneller gaat.
Ik denk dat hij 2084 al niet meer gaat halen.
Uitspraken als in deze QdJ kunnen helpen de man op zijn plaats te zetten en van zijn troon te halen. Er is vast wel meer.
Toch niks mis mee, deze uitspraken?
Gewoon een reflectie op ook bij hem bekende vooroordelen,
of zijn het geconstateerde feiten?
Sommige culturele achtergronden kunnen een mens nu eenmaal totaal ergeren.
Zo hebben we allemaal wel iets waar we aanstoot aan nemen.
Ik vind dit ook wel een mooi vooroordeel:
