Typewriters are intricate machines – complex little boxes that require an abundance of ingenuity to produce. They are often beautiful, and they occasionally find wildly imaginative ways to conduct the delicate dance between the hammers and the keys.
So much of the way we interact with machines today directly links to the innovations pushed forth by typewriters in the late 19th century. Ons nu nog in gebruik zijnde Qwerty toetsenbord is het gevolg van schrijfmachines, om te voorkomen dat de letterarmen in elkaar verward zouden raken zijn de letters die het meest worden gebruikt het verst uit elkaar geplaatst.
Nu dat niet meer nodig is met pc’s zijn er wel efficiëntere toetsenborden, maar volgens mij gebruikt vrijwel niemand ze.
